About the Role
Medovent Solutions connects skilled oncology data professionals with hospitals and cancer programs that need them. We’re actively sourcing experienced Oncology Data Specialists (ODS-C) for contract and permanent placements with CoC-accredited facilities across the country.
This is a chance to do meaningful work—abstracting and maintaining high-quality cancer data that directly supports patient outcomes, research, and accreditation—from wherever you are.
What You’ll Do
- Abstract cancer cases using STORE, FORDS, and SEER MP/H Rules.
- Apply AJCC 8th & 9th Edition staging accurately across disease sites.
- Assign ICD-O-3 topography and morphology codes with precision.
- Support NAACCR and state registry reporting requirements.
- Assist with CoC accreditation readiness and quality control as needed.
- Collaborate with registry teams to clear backlogs and meet compliance deadlines.
- Perform additional duties within the Cancer Registry as assigned by facility management and/or Medovent leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- ODS credential (required).
- Solid working knowledge of AJCC staging, ICD-O-3, STORE, and FORDS.
- Experience with major registry software (METRIQ, ONCOlog, CNExT, KACI, CRStar, or similar).
- Computer savvy with proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Familiarity with CoC accreditation standards and quality measures (preferred).
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working remotely.
- 2+ years of cancer registry abstraction experience.
- Strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality regulations and organizational data privacy policies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent organizational ability and time management.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately.
