Opportunity Overview

Position Summary

Medovent Solutions is seeking experienced Acute Outpatient Surgery Coders to support a long-term remote engagement. This opportunity requires strong surgical coding experience across multiple specialties, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work successfully within complex and highly manual coding workflows.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent procedural coding accuracy, sound critical thinking, and a proven ability to interpret nuanced surgical documentation. While there is an immediate need, candidate quality, relevant experience, and coding accuracy are the primary considerations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and accurately code acute outpatient surgical encounters across multiple specialties.
  • Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes based on medical record documentation and applicable coding guidelines.
  • Carefully interpret operative reports and other clinical documentation to identify all reportable procedures and services.
  • Perform manual identification and charge-entry activities with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Navigate nuanced surgical coding processes and complex, manual workflows.
  • Validate procedural accuracy, code selection, modifiers, and supporting documentation before finalizing encounters.
  • Research coding questions and apply sound judgment when documentation or procedural details are complex.
  • Communicate documentation concerns, coding discrepancies, and potential workflow issues to the appropriate team members.
  • Meet established expectations for coding quality, accuracy, productivity, and timely account completion.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable coding guidelines, regulations, and specialty-specific requirements.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy, regulatory, and organizational requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Active professional coding certification.
  • Strong acute outpatient surgery coding experience across multiple surgical specialties.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and coding complex operative reports.
  • Proven success maintaining procedural coding accuracy within manual or complex workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnosis coding, procedure coding, modifiers, and applicable outpatient coding guidelines.
  • Excellent critical-thinking, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a consistent commitment to coding quality.
  • Ability to learn nuanced surgical coding processes quickly.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet established deadlines in a fully remote environment.
