About the Role
Medovent Solutions connects skilled trauma data professionals with hospitals and trauma programs that need them. We’re actively sourcing experienced Trauma Registrars for contract placements with Level I-IV trauma centers across the country. This is a chance to do meaningful work—abstracting and maintaining high-quality trauma data that directly supports patient outcomes, research, and accreditation—from wherever you are.
What You’ll Do
- Abstract trauma cases using NTDS data elements, AIS scoring, and ISS/NISS calculations.
- Apply AIS coding and calculate Injury Severity Scores with precision.
- Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes accurately.
- Ensure data quality, completeness, and timely submissions; perform data validation and cleanup.
- Submit data to state trauma registries and the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) as required.
- Support trauma program accreditation readiness and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with trauma registry teams and clinical staff to clear backlogs and meet deadlines.
- Maintain PHI/PII security and HIPAA compliance throughout all data processes.
- Work collaboratively with the Trauma Program Manager, trauma coordinators, and clinical staff to ensure complete and accurate data submission to the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) and applicable state trauma registries.
- Support performance improvement initiatives, mortality and morbidity reviews, and trauma registry-related reporting as assigned by program leadership.
What We’re Looking For
Requirements for Medovent Trauma Registrars meet the American College of Surgeons Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient 2022 Standards, Revised July 2025, Standards 4.33 and 4.34.
- Minimum 2+ years of current trauma registry data abstraction experience.
- Solid knowledge of AIS/ISS severity scoring, ICD-10, NTDS/NTDB data standards, and reporting requirements.
- Experience with major trauma registry software, EMRs, and data management systems.
- Familiarity with state trauma registry requirements and NTDB submission processes.
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working remotely.
- Strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality regulations and organizational data privacy policies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent organizational ability and attention to detail.

AAAM’s Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) Course*
- Version specific to the Trauma Center AIS 2008 or 2015
- ICD-10-CM/PCS course completed within the past 5 years*
- 8 hours of trauma-related continuing education annually*

Preferred Certifications
- CAISS (Certified AIS Specialist) – Preferred
- CSTR (Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry) – Preferred
