Key Responsibilities
- Review clinical indicators and query requests from CDI and DRG integrity teams
- Create and distribute compliant provider queries in accordance with AHIMA, ACDIS, ICD-10, and AHA Coding Clinic guidelines
- Collaborate with clinical and coding teams to clarify documentation and avoid misinterpretation
- Utilize medical terminology, coding knowledge, and critical thinking to support accurate code assignment and documentation specificity
- Maintain strong attention to detail with professional grammar and written communication
- Use internal tracking and reporting systems for documentation and productivity metrics
- Meet established productivity and quality standards
- Participate in ongoing education related to CDI, coding, and regulatory updates
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
One of the following required:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Foreign Medical Graduate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of clinical healthcare experience
- Minimum 2 years of current inpatient CDI experience
Credentials:
One or more of the following preferred:
- RN, BSN, CCDS, CDIP, CCS, RHIA, MD, or DO
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical abilities
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines and compliant query practices
- Proficient with EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and manage multiple systems/screens in a remote environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain professional working relationships
- This is a remote position requiring prolonged computer and phone use in a professional office setting. Minimal to no travel required.
