Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist

Contract Term: Six-month assignment, with possible extensions based on coverage needs and consultant performance

Position Overview

Medovent Solutions is seeking experienced Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists to provide seamless, ongoing support for a large healthcare organization. This fully remote position focuses on concurrent inpatient record review, compliant query development, documentation accuracy, and consistent achievement of productivity and quality standards.

Successful candidates will be clinically knowledgeable, technically capable, resourceful, goal-oriented team players who enjoy working in a collaborative and growing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct concurrent reviews of inpatient medical records.
  • Identify documentation gaps, discrepancies, and opportunities for clarification.
  • Develop clear, clinically supported, and compliant provider queries.
  • Complete initial and follow-up reviews accurately and efficiently.
  • Review up to 25 charts per day, including initial reviews and follow-ups.
  • Maintain established productivity, quality, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, coding professionals, CDI leaders, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Apply strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills when evaluating documentation.
  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage assigned work independently within a remote environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license.
  • At least two years of Clinical Documentation Integrity experience.
  • Strong bedside nursing experience.
  • Experience working in a Level I trauma center.
  • Experience working in an academic medical facility.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a remote team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • CCDS or CDIP certification.
  • Extensive ICU bedside nursing experience.
  • Experience using Epic and Nuance CDE One.

Candidates should clearly identify their ICU bedside nursing experience, including the facility and length of service, on their résumé.

Schedule Expectations

  • Monday–Friday during standard office hours.
  • Weekly schedules, including flex time and planned time off, are subject to management approval.
  • All interviews, meetings, and related activities are conducted in Central Time.

Technology and Remote-Work Requirements

The healthcare organization will provide the required work equipment. Equipment delivery may take up to 15 days.

Candidates should also have:

  • A dedicated workspace.
  • One or more additional monitors.
  • Reliable high-speed internet.
  • The technical proficiency needed to work effectively in a remote environment.

Training

Selected consultants will receive approximately two weeks of comprehensive training on applicable policies, procedures, systems, and workflows before entering production.

Interview Process

The interview process typically includes:

  1. A 30-minute, on-camera Microsoft Teams panel interview with regional leadership.
  2. A 30-minute, on-camera Microsoft Teams panel interview with CDI management. Candidates will receive a case scenario approximately 30 minutes before this interview.

Interviews may be scheduled on consecutive days when possible. Hiring decisions are generally communicated shortly after the interview process is completed.
