Position Overview

Medovent Solutions is seeking experienced CDI Query Writers for a 100% remote, long-term contract supporting multiple hospitals of varying sizes and scopes. Four positions are available.

The initial contract term is six months, with the possibility of extensions based on client needs. The client may consider exceptional consultants for permanent positions based on performance, organizational needs, and alignment with the team’s culture.

  • Work arrangement: 100% remote
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday during typical office hours
  • Target start date: June 22, 2026
  • Systems: Systems will vary by the hospital being supported

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assess the clinical indicators and recommendations included in query requests received from physician reviewers and DRG Integrity Specialists.
  • Collaborate and communicate with appropriate stakeholders to clarify requests, prevent misinterpretation, and ensure each query is optimally written and distributed to the correct client provider.
  • Create compliant queries in accordance with AHIMA and ACDIS query guidelines and American Hospital Association Coding Clinic guidance.
  • Ensure queries support the accurate reporting of medical diagnoses and procedures.
  • Construct clear, concise, and clinically supported queries using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Apply ICD-10 coding guidelines and medical terminology to create queries that improve the accuracy of severity of illness, risk of mortality, and final code assignment.
  • Participate in educational opportunities covering current coding and query-writing guidelines, internal policies, and client procedures.
  • Apply Accuity policies and procedures, federal and state coding requirements, and official coding guidelines to ensure documentation supports code assignment at the highest appropriate level of specificity.
  • Use the Accuity tracking tool accurately for data entry and reportable criteria.
  • Maintain established productivity and quality standards.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

Candidates must possess at least one of the following:

  • Foreign medical graduate education
  • Associate degree in nursing
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Bachelor’s degree in health information management
  • Another related degree, subject to management review and approval

Experience

  • Active query-writing experience within the past 12 months.
  • At least three years of clinical work experience.
  • At least two years of current inpatient CDI experience.

Licensure and Credentials

Candidates must possess at least one of the following credentials:

  • MD
  • DO
  • CDIP
  • RN
  • BSN
  • CCS
  • CCDS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional query-writing skills, including strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Excellent critical-thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn multiple electronic medical record and data-reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze information, manage multiple tasks, and work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional, service-oriented working relationships with staff, particularly Accuity physician reviewers.
  • Ability to understand and comply with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently across multiple screens and systems.
  • Proficiency using a PC in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to remain independent, focused, and productive in a remote work environment.

Additional Expectations

The successful consultant must be highly proficient with technology and able to demonstrate this proficiency during the selection process. Because this position supports multiple facilities, the consultant will access and work within several client systems each day.
