Position Summary
Medovent Solutions is seeking experienced Clinical Validators to support clinical and coding validation activities across multiple healthcare systems. These positions focus on hospital-based clinical and coding validation rather than insurance-side review.
The ideal candidate will be a nurse with an inpatient coding credential and direct experience conducting both clinical and coding validation reviews. A strong understanding of cardiac care and Critical Care Unit cases is required due to the volume and complexity of the cases reviewed.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct concurrent or retrospective clinical and coding validation reviews across multiple healthcare systems.
- Evaluate the medical record to determine whether documented diagnoses are clinically supported by the patient’s condition, treatment, diagnostic findings, and overall clinical picture.
- Validate diagnosis and procedure code assignments against medical record documentation and applicable inpatient coding guidelines.
- Review complex inpatient cases for clinical indicators, treatment patterns, diagnostic criteria, and coding accuracy.
- Perform detailed reviews of cardiac and Critical Care Unit cases.
- Identify unsupported, conflicting, incomplete, or inconsistent clinical documentation and code assignments.
- Clearly document review findings and provide evidence-based rationales for validation determinations.
- Apply sound clinical judgment and coding expertise when evaluating complex or ambiguous cases.
- Collaborate with coding, clinical documentation integrity, quality, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Maintain an expected productivity level of seven to ten completed reviews per day while meeting established quality standards.
- Adapt to the policies, workflows, and documentation practices of multiple healthcare systems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable regulatory, privacy, and organizational requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license.
- Active inpatient coding credential.
- Direct professional experience performing clinical validation reviews.
- Direct professional experience performing inpatient coding validation reviews.
- Strong knowledge of inpatient coding guidelines, clinical documentation integrity principles, and clinical validation standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac conditions, treatments, procedures, and Critical Care Unit cases.
- Ability to interpret complex medical records, laboratory results, diagnostic studies, treatment plans, and provider documentation.
- Strong critical-thinking, analytical, research, and written communication skills.
- Ability to consistently complete seven to ten reviews per day in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple healthcare systems and adapting to different workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical experience in cardiac care, critical care, or a Critical Care Unit.
- Experience reviewing complex, high-acuity inpatient cases.
- Experience working across multiple hospitals or healthcare systems.
- Additional clinical documentation integrity, coding, or auditing credentials.
